Habitat: Clavaria acuta usually occurs on bare soil in somewhat disturbed areas.
Conservation Status: Not of concern
C. vermicularis is very similar (microscopically nearly identical) and somewhat more common. It also grows on soil, but in dense clusters of usually larger clubs. Its species name comes from the Latin for worm.
